How long have you been building things?

The first time I really felt like I "built" something in the way I do today was around 2008. I was 13 years old and recently played the video game "Assassin's Creed". I realized I could remake a famous weapon from the game with junk around my dad's garage. I got about 90% done with the weapon when I needed to attach a real blade to it. Believe it or not, my parents did not let me finish that build.
